Aurora
Aurora Aksnes Born June 15th 1996 in Stavanger and professionally referred to as Aurora occasionally stylized as AURORA is a Norwegian singer and songwriter. Her debut E.P. Running with the Wolves, came out in May 2015 on Decca Records to great approval of music bloggers and the media. Half the World Away, by the Oasis band, for John Lewis Christmas advertisements and Nature Boy, by Nat King Cole are two of her most renowned covers. Her name was also recognized via a blog post from Katy Perry where Perry endorsed the track Runaway. It was her birthday. Aurora Aksnes first musical memory was discovering a piano in her loft, and becoming amazed by its sound. Parents May-Britt as well as Jan Oystein Aksnes encouraged her to pursue music not as an occupation or pastime but for growth. So she started her own compositions. She points to renowned songwriters Leonard Cohen and Bob Dylan for inspiration, as well as an inclination to Bjork's style. The singer decided to perform their songs in public after her mom suggested they can help other people, not be famous with her music, but rather to help the people around them understand their importance and the ways they can affect the world. In the age of 6, she began to play on the piano. When she turned nine began writing her own songs. She didn't tell her family about it until the age of 14. Aurora wasn't a dream. As she says, she is a fan of writing songs. To her, music is the best method to communicate anything.
